ASTRA 1M Satellite Launched On Proton November 10, 2008
A Proton Breeze M rocket lifted a new ASTRA satellite into orbit from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, SES Astra announced.
The satellite headed toward a prime orbital position 19.2 degrees East. It should be in final position in the next few weeks, and will begin commercial operation in January after on-orbit tests.
It will provide direct-to-home and high definition TV for Europe.
