Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman Test TSAT Deployable Radiator

[Satellite Today 09-17-08] A team led by Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman has tested its deployable radiator system for the U.S. Air Force's Transformational Satellite Communications System (TSAT) constellation, Lockheed Martin announced Sept. 17.
Developed by Lockheed Martin Space Systems and Thermacore Inc., the test was designed to demonstrate improvements in heat dissipation capability over existing systems.
Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman are competing with a Boeing-led team for the TSAT space segment contract, which is valued at $6.6 billion. TSAT will provide military users with wideband, highly mobile, beyond line-of-sight protected communications to support network-centric operations.
