Intelsat Launches Global Maritime Solution

Intelsat Ltd. has launched a new Network Broadband Global Maritime service among its GlobalConnex portfolio of services, and signed a multi-year distribution agreement with Schlumberger, Intelsat announced June 19.

Utilizing Intelsat's global C-band capacity, the maritime network operates at rates up to 2Mbps, with the initial service offering for a fixed monthly fee continuous communications and new levels of bandwidth capabilities to the maritime industry.

Oilfield services provider Schlumberger has signed a multi-year agreement to distribute the service to the oil and gas market.
